Between mount Lozère and mount Aigoual, at the edge of the village of Barre-des-Cévennes, the campsite / guesthouse « La Croisette » is located in the heart of the Cévennes national park. 250 km south of Clermont-Ferrand and 110 km north of Montpellier, it is readily accessible by the A75 highway. La Croisette is ideally situated for hiking, horse riding, mountain biking or motorcycling.
Motorcycling, mountain biking, riding or hiking
Located in a UNESCO world heritage area, La Croisette is an ideal touristic base camp. At the top of the Corniche des Cévennes, a few kilometers away from the gorges du Tarn, the Gorges de la Jonte and the Gorges de la Dourbie, bikers will enjoy series of rapid curves as well as tricky piloting on steep roads. Barre-des-Cévennes is a stage on the GR67 (Trail around the Cévennes country). Hikers, with or without donkeys, will stop at La Croisette on their way through the vast panoramas of mount Aigoual and the peaceful chestnut trees forests. Riders will follow the numerous tracks while mountain bike riders will find lots of paths where to challenge their muscle and lung capacities.
A friendly stay
Back at La Croisette, you will have a juice or a beer under the arbor before dining of a delicious cep omelette and a flavourful boar stew, or of the meal you will cook in the guesthouse kitchen.
Whether you sleep under your tent or in a room, you will enjoy a peaceful rest in the silence of the Cévennes night. Your donkay, your horse will stay in the paddock or in a box, motorcycles and bikes in the garage.
Didier, Jean-Claude Combes and their spouses will welcome you friendly. They will help you with your route, suggest noteworthy sites and, if necessary, will lend you tools you might need to take care of your animal or your motorcycle.
